This declaration may be cited as the Fisheries Amendment Declaration 2024.

This declaration amends the Fisheries Declaration 2019.

After section 117—
insert—

118Recreational fisher taking spanish mackerel in Gulf of Carpentaria waters

(1)This section applies to a recreational fisher who is, or has been, on a boat and taking part in a licensed charter fishing trip that is conducted—
(a)for a continuous period of at least 48 hours; and
(b)entirely in the Gulf of Carpentaria waters.
(2)The recreational fisher may—
(a)during the licensed charter fishing trip, take twice the regulated maximum number of spanish mackerel; and
(b)possess the fish taken under paragraph (a).
