This rule may be cited as the Supreme Court (Admission) Amendment Rule 2020.
This rule amends the Supreme Court (Admission) Rules 2004.
After rule 27—
insert—27AAlternative process in exceptional circumstances
(1)This section applies if the Chief Justice considers a requirement under part 3 relating to admission to the legal profession should be removed or modified because of exceptional circumstances, including, for example, a public health emergency.(2)The Chief Justice may make a practice direction providing for an alternative process for admission to the legal profession.(3)If the practice direction is inconsistent with a rule of court, the practice direction prevails to the extent of the inconsistency.
